Due to the great success of the first workshop, I’ve decided to do it again! 🎨 This will be our 2nd painting workshop!

We’ll once again be mixing from just three primary colors, but this time we’ll learn how to use red, blue, and yellow (+ white) to paint metallic, gold, and silver objects. Sounds impossible to create gold from only three colors?
On August 21st, we’ll make it happen!
WHEN? August 21, 2025 – 3:00–7:00 PM
WHERE? As usual, in the Minorite Monastery
WHAT TO BRING? Everything will be provided – canvas, acrylic paints, and brushes. However, I recommend bringing an apron or work clothes.
PRICE: 2650 CZK
If you’d like to join, email me at klarasedlo.artist@gmail.com :)
(By the way, I already have dates set for additional workshops – a total of 5 workshops from August to November. When booking all at once, the price per workshop is 2100 CZK.)
Planned workshop dates: Sept 4, Sept 25, Oct 9, Nov 6
Workshop Program:
1. Workshop – August 21, 2025
We’ll quickly review mixing from the three primary colors, and then move on to painting metallic and gold objects. We’ll also take a closer look at the theory of complementary colors, including historical examples, and discuss how to use this theory subtly yet effectively in your painting.
2. Workshop – September 4, 2025
Perspective time – grab a measuring stick and let’s get to work! We’ll take a short break from color mixing and work monochromatically. This way, we’ll focus not only on perspective but also on value – the lightness or darkness of a color. You’ll learn proper measuring techniques (yes, there are rules for holding the stick!) and how to deal with perspective foreshortening. We’ll work with a still life composed of geometric shapes and varying degrees of light and shadow.
3. Workshop – September 25, 2025
Value – the distinction of light intensity in color – was introduced last time in monochrome. Now we’ll apply it in full color. We’ll work with a still life featuring just one object – but don’t be fooled, it will be a challenging organic form requiring precise measuring: a human skull (plastic anatomical model). For those uncomfortable with the skull, we can substitute an antique bust. In both cases, it’s a light object, but as we know – white is never just white. We’ll carefully mix not only the correct color but also its value.
4. Workshop – October 9, 2025
We’re moving on to glass! You’ll see that painting glass objects is easier than it seems. We’ll work with a still life featuring glassware and flowers, or other organic forms. The arrangement will be larger, but set up so you can focus on just one section if you wish. We’ll also explain the theory of aerial (color) perspective and how the human eye perceives depth – and how you can use this knowledge (even in abstract or landscape painting).
5. Workshop – November 6, 2025
Painting space – we’ll take a step away from still life and look around us! We’ll paint the interior of the monastery. This workshop will require measuring again, using the stick (we’ll refresh and strengthen knowledge from previous workshops – and explain it again for newcomers) and, of course, perspective. We’ll review the three main types of perspective and learn to identify the horizon line. You can choose to paint a single corner, a chair, or the entire hall. The result can be a finished painting or study – or several sketches!
Note: All workshops are designed to accommodate beginners as well as returning participants. I can explain the basics individually and adapt the task – for example, working on a smaller section of the still life or setting up a custom arrangement.
