Klára Sedlo – Who I Am?
I’m a Czech painter and visual artist. In my work, I love getting lost in a world of imagination, where colors and symbols speak for me.
Instead of depicting reality, I paint what exists only inside me.
How I Create
My paintings come to me as visions.
I often say I have access to an endless plain of imagination, where I pick ideas like flowers – and love bringing them into the real world.
Visions and Imagination
When I create, I don’t need a plan. The images appear on their own – like unexpected visitors from another world.
All I need is a moment of silence, and suddenly a landscape of forms, colors and moods opens before me.
Sometimes vivid and urgent, sometimes unfolding slowly – like mist dissolving in morning light.
Paintings as Stories
I love painting in series – each piece becomes part of a larger whole.
Sometimes it’s the story of an imaginary character, sometimes a map of a world I’ve invented.
Series like *Eel Man* or *Fogbow* follow specific figures and their inner landscapes.
Others, like *Friends* or *Bizarre vacation* explore entire dreamlike realms with their own logic and atmosphere.
Synesthesia and the Color of Emotion
I experience synesthesia – all numbers, letters, and emotions have color in my mind.
Memories appear as rooms I can open, explore, and revisit.
My inner world is alive, ever-shifting, and full of color.
This is where I draw from.
For me, color isn’t just an aesthetic decision – it’s a language of feeling and meaning.
Turning Vision into Reality
The moment a painting I see in my mind begins to appear on the canvas – that’s what brings me the most joy.
I’m covered in paint, tired, but completely immersed in that magic when something invisible becomes real.
That process never loses its charm.
It’s a little like alchemy – turning vision into reality.
